Notification Services
The key to a successful prepaid solution is the ability keep the consumer informed on a daily basis about his consumption and account balance.
Notification Services provides the consumer with timely and accurate information about consumption and account status.
This is accomplished by the consumer selecting the desired notification type(s), method of delivery, and time of delivery.   This offers convenience and flexibility.
Delivery methods include:
  • Automated Phone Call
  • Email
  • Text Message
  • Pager
Methods of delivery available to the consumer include automated phone call, SMS text message, email, and pager. The consumer can select all or one of these methods; conversely, if no notifications are desired, the consumer simply waives receipt of notification during account creation.  Of course, the consumer may request notifications to begin at any time regardless of original configuration.
Unlike other prepaid solutions, the consumer chooses the type, method and frequency of these notifications and the consumer is not required to be at home to receive the notifications.
The Notification Services consists of two components -- a notification server and a pool of clients. The server manages a number of processes that control the flow of all out going messages. When a notification request is received, the server determines the method of delivery and the time it is to be sent and places the request in the client queue. The notification client processes the notification events and reports the outcome to the server.
The message flow is bidirectional which allows for message delivery and message errors to be sent back to the Management Portal. Notification orders are generated at various times depending on  the type of order.
Notification Types:
  • Daily Balance
Informs the consumer of his current balance and usage as of the latest meter reading.
  • Recharge
Sent after a payment has successfully posted to a consumer's account.
  • Low Balance
Notifies a consumer when his balance reaches a predetermined amount as established by the consumer.
  • Pending Disconnect
Sent when a consumer's account is subject to disconnect.
Daily Balance, Low Balance and Disconnect notifications are generated during the nightly process upon completion of the usage rating process. Recharge notifications are generated upon successful posting of a payment to a consumer’s account.
These can occur at any time. Upon successful delivery of a notification, all others of the same type are automatically cancelled.
